Plumbing and Pipe fitting

Plumbing and Pipe fitting is the system of pipes, fittings, valves, valve assemblies, and devices installation in buildings for the distribution of drinking water, heating and washing, and the removal of waste water, and the skilled trade personnel work with pipes, tubing and plumbing fixtures in such systems.  

A Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The incumbent maintain, test, assemble, install and repair pumps, pipes and fixtures.

 Occupational/ Job Description

Ø Work includes, but is not limited to

Ø Installation, maintenance and repair plumbing equipment and systems within the guidelines of country,

Ø  Repair pipes of various sizes and materials type

Ø  Fix plumbing Fixtures such as baths, sinks, hand wash basin and water closet pans to walls in floors.

Ø  Cut, threads, bend and join piping to correct dimensions

Ø  Disassembles and reassembles commercial plumbing equipment to perform trouble shooting and for preventative maintenance.

Ø  Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment to perform service.

Ø  Check safety equipment and replace components such washers, gaskets, trainers and filters.

Ø  Inspect, repair, replace pumps, valves and boilers system including swimming pools

Ø  Diagnoses plumbing system performance through observation and testing.

Ø  Be able to follow plans and drawings, and understand technical instructions

Ø  Quote and order consumable materials from suppliers

Ø  Monitor works done by outsider contractors for adherence to plumbing and pipefitting Code Requirements and report back to supervisor

Ø  Reports to designated person and works with co-workers and employees to provide the scope of work.

Ø  Maintains personal performance agreement with immediate supervisor
